Los mejores discos de 2014

Listas, listas y más listas. No podemos remediarlo: es superior a nuestra fuerza de voluntad. Como quien no quiere la cosa, termina otro año y toca repasar mentalmente  lo escuchado durante los últimos doce meses.

Sin ser un ejercicio tan espectacular como otras cosechas recientes, 2014 nos ha dejado de todo: desde futuros clásicos como el imponente “Melana Chasmata” de Triptykon (lee la crítica aquí), oscuro, majestuoso y crudo como pocos; hasta objetos de estudio como la segunda entrega de Pallbearer, «Foundations of Burden» (lee la crítica aquí), quienes superan con creces su notable debut con un envolvente e intenso tratado de doom épico.

También ha sido el año de los esperados retornos de Eyehategod y su nuevo y homónimo vendaval sludge (lee la crítica aquí); de Godflesh y su nueva apisonadora de violento minimalismo industrial; y del reencuentro con los mejores Weezer mediante el luminoso y endorfínico «Everything Will Be Alright in the End» (lee la crítica aquí).

Asimismo, queremos destacar a los envolventes, densos y fascinantes YOB, estandartes del mejor doom metal; el reconocimiento definitivo de Sólstafir y su post-rock místico de background black y raíces vikingas; la genuina mezcla de experimentación y brutalidad de Tombs; la enésima prueba de que Mastodon están marcando época, vía un «Once More ‘Round the Sun» soberbio (lee la crítica aquí); o la enorgullecedora cosecha estatal, de la que resaltamos la arrolladora propuesta de Teitanblood y la inspiradora reinvención de los catalanes Foscor (lee crítica aquí).

Por cierto, muy pronto publicaremos una lista de los mejores discos y conciertos del año elaborada conjuntamente con nuestros amigos de Tremors 666 y Empire Zone Magazine. Enjoy!

Si esta lista pudiera incluir más nombres la hubiéramos ampliado con Bölzer, Tombs, Primordial, Horn of the Rhino, Electric Wizard, Mayhem, Bigelf, The Afghan Whigs, Berri Txarrak, OFF!, Scott Walker & Sunn O))), Against Me!, Floor, Dysnomia, Legacy of Brutality, Hummano o Domains; también con discos desiguales pero con grandes momentos como los nuevos de Machine Head, Obituary o Slipknot; y algunos de corte más clásico como las notables últimas entregas de Judas Priest o Grand Magus.
